Charitable Giving Programme

Making a Better World

Here at Sofie we believe passionately that social enterprises need to work hand in glove with business enterprise to make our communities thrive. By working together we and they will learn about our community so that we can drive the change that is needed to make a better world starting in our local community.

Our belief is that business entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs need to come together and learn from one another. Both must be celebrated by our communities as the agents for change.

Sofie commits to covenant 15% of ALL membership fee income (net of VAT) to our Charitable Giving Programme.

At every Sofie event there will be a collection for a charity with local connections nominated by our event speakers.

All members will vote bi-annually to select which three local charity will be the recipients of these funds.

Membership will be FREE to all social entrepreneurs and those who work for such enterprises.

THIS IS OUR COMMITMENT

Read Easy UK
Read Easy is a not-for-profit organisation that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to give one-to-one tuition to adults who struggle with reading.

Working through community-based volunteer groups, Read Easy offers a free, friendly, flexible approach to learning to read for any adult who either can’t read at all, or who lacks confidence with reading. Its success is founded on a one-to-one approach, using a highly effective, phonics-based reading scheme, supported by other learning activities. It gives people the opportunity to work in private and at their own pace and builds reading skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Sobell House is a hospice based on the Churchill Hospital site and is part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is jointly funded by the NHS and Sobell House Hospice Charity. We offer specialist palliative care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement in Oxfordshire. This encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and includes supporting their families and those close to them. We care for around 3,000 patients and their families every year.

It is our mission to enrich the lives of our patients and those who love and care for them. We aim to make sure that excellent palliative and end of life care is available to everybody in our community who needs it.
